Elijah James

Image

He came quickly.  Just like I knew he would.

After four hours of labor he arrived, it felt like a dream.

Image

7 lbs. 8 oz.

Pure goodness.

Image

Family joined us to celebrate his arrival at 4:32 am on Friday morning.

Image

He peered at me through his plastic bassinet.  I knew him, he knew me, my voice, my presence.

Image

I knew that he’d be dark featured.  His sister light.

Image

I knew that he’d be sweet and love music.  Like his Yaya.

Image

I knew that he’d be “just like him.”

I just didn’t know my parents would bring a friend… Poor things… They were sick for days!

Image

Many have said that Elijah takes after me… well, baby pictures reveal that he sure does look an awful lot like his Nana!

Image

The Perusquias came bearing gifts on Saturday!  Jordi bought him his very first soccer ball!

Image

It was apparent from the beginning that he sucked his fist in-utero.

Image

He is wrapped up in a loving extended family of doting aunts, uncles, yayas, nanas, grandpas!

waiting.

Come on Elijah!

I am now officially unable to see my freshly painted pink toenails…

Our bag is packed.

Your bed is made! (yes, that is Gaviscon on the bed…)

Nana has her overnight instructions for your sister.

Mommy wrote down a note for you to read someday.

Image

And… you have one very eager big sister!

We can’t wait to see your little face and hold you in our arms!

chocolate cake.

My birthday celebration came a bit early this year! With the high likelihood that I will be celebrating my 28th year in the hospital with Elijah, my parents wanted to cover the bases.

Shrimp scampi, baked bri with fig compote, caprese salad, filet mignon were on the menu.  Dinner was fabulous, but what stole the show were the warm hugs, sincere wishes, and chocolate ganache rasberry filled cake adorned with 28 candles.

Little Kinsley and her cousins ran around the house, elated to be together!

Hello, my name is Jackie Frederick, and I am married to a Crossfitter.

Hello. My name is Jackie Frederick, and I am married to a Crossfitter.

Kinsley is down for her afternoon nap, I am on the computer, and Adam is… well… working on his… mobility?

Image

Thought I’d capture it on camera. It really is endearing. But… a common occurance.

So I took my camera around the house to document the countless reminders that my husband is, and has been a Crossfitter for years.  I have grown rather fond of it all, but it did take some getting used to!

Image

He says it’s used for “tac and stretch…” Just looks like a PVC pipe and towel to me… It’s a permanent fixture in our office.

Image

Used for “rolling out…?” These two lacrosse balls united with layers of duct tape shows up randomly on the floor, table, kitchen counter, Kinsley’s toy bin!

Image

Rollers… weight vests… ya know!

Image

At least they’re contained!

Image

Grassfed protein powders of different varieties… creatine powder…stevia… even a weight for food!

Image

Whole. Milk.

Image

Fermented Cod Liver Oil.

Reebok. Shoes.

Thought I’d break up the trend last year… so I bought him some “Inov-8’s…”

Image

Essential Stuff.

Image

At least the Airdyne is out of the living room, and IN THE GARAGE!! Haha!  Two years ago we actually adorned this little beauty with some Christmas ornaments!  She has become a member of the family over the years.  She is called “The Beast.”

I am now back in the office…

More Tac and Stretch!

On a side note, two days ago I found Kinsley trying to “roll out” on his foam roller.  Too cute!  And yes, little Elijah already has his plastic kettle bell.

Red Hat Little Lady.

Kinsley was thrilled when her aunts showed up at the door this past Friday afternoon.

Image

Anna and Alecia wanted to take my little lady out for some much-needed girl time, replete with shopping, a Starbucks run, and a new red hat!

Image

I understand being an aunt myself that it’s pretty much irresistible to not completely spoil your nieces (s)… so when my sister-in-laws stepped through the door to drop Kinsley off with a “gift” I was not surprised, but oh so grateful!!

Image

These aunts never cease to amaze me… they always find Kinsley (and now Elijah) some cute outfit or new toy to delight them with!

Image

So thank you to Aunt Anna and Aunt Alecia for Kinsley’s new red hat!! It is absolutely smashing on her!!

new niece.

We are celebrating one very special niece tonight!

Ashley and Jordi just found out they are expecting their third little girl this April!
